*I stalked down the street, twirling my knife across my fingers, looking around thoughtfully and for any Shifters.*
I walked down the street angrily. I couldn't even get coffee here! This place sucked. I really felt like crying, but I hid it with a mask of seething anger instead.
I wanted to throw a fit, to scream and cry and throw things, but I'd have to settle for beating somebody up. But where WAS everyone? You couldn't beat someone up if they weren't around to be beaten up.
*I quickly swift'd through the pathways, I was late.*
"You took your time getting here." I growled as Felix drew near to the base.
*I shrugged, "Had some business to take care of, the usual,"
*I shrugged and sighed as I sat down* "Well, have you seen any likely targets lately?" I asked as if it was nothing unusual.
*I nodded, "Passed by two time fighters on the way. One tall, scrawny guy, and a skinny, fit girl, who seemed...content? The guy may be no use to us but the girl is."
*I nodded* "Both TimeFighters? That makes them even more useful." I said thoughtfully. I finally came to a conclusion. "Target the girl, the guy doesn't sound very useful."
"You never know, we could use him as easy bait,"I shrugged, turning into my usual form. I was a normal, always tan time shifter, wearing a dark time shifter uniform.*
"Clara!" I called from behind, rushing up. "You missed an important minor battle! Why weren't you there? I know someone sent for you."
*I shrugged* "Whatever you think is best." I said with a sinister grin, nodding and slipping silently into the building.
"I don't have any weapons on me." I lied quickly and smoothly.
"Yea!"I called behind Gale, "I sent a Time Fighter Apprentice to come get you!"I exclaimed.
"I've known you for years, Clara. You can't lie." I pointed out. "Why weren't you at the spat?"
*I glared at Jocelyn and sighed* "I got...distracted." I admitted a bit painfully.
*I nodded, quickly nabbing my dagger and putting it in my pocket. I put my DC's on, and transformed myself into different close. Time Fiighter clothes. I thought, disgusted. I quickly finished tying my DC's and hopped out of the base, going to walk along the road.*
*I shook my head, understanding the situation* "Seriously, and you couldn't pull out a trance to come help with a rather difficult situation?" I muttered.
"Ooo! By who?"She asked, knowing Clara for even longer. She could see it in her eyes.
*I wasn't in a rush. If I were to encounter these Time Fighters, I would have to act like one of them, and was I good at that.*
"Some...dude. I didn't know him." I said hastily.
"Clara. You can't blow off fights for daydreaming." I pointed out.
"I wasn't daydreaming!" I snapped, glaring coldly. "And you're not my father, Gale." With that, I stalked off angrily.
*I narrowed my eyes, "More than just some dude." I growled.
*I watched the clouds, It was going to rain. I sighed, I loved rain, it was the best time to make Time Shifters... But not today, painfully.*
"Clara! CLARA!" I called after but it was no use. I turned to Jocelyn. "I'll put money on the fact that this 'some dude' was a Shifter."
"20 bucks?"I asked, knowing he was probably right.
*I shrugged* "Whatever." I said with a nod.
*I swivled my head towards the path Clara went, motioning him to walk, as I started going fowards.*
*There was nothing better to do so I walk alongside Jocelyn, after Clara*
*My phone buzzed, and I quickly tore it out of my bag, reading the message, "Gale.."I trailed, looking sorrowful.*
"What now?" I growled, getting sick of this action-packed life.
(Going into 3rd character)"My....dad just died,"Jocelyn choked out, tears starting to spill out of her eyes.
*I stopped suddenly and turned to face Jocelyn* "You're dad just...?" I trailed, not sure of what to do.
*I nodded, "He was defending little children from Time Shifters, and they decided not to save him..."
*I opened my mouth then closed it again. I really didn't know what to say. I tried rubbing Jocelyn's back comfortingly* ""at least he died with honor..." I reasoned.
*I shot his hand away, running down the road as fast as I could before I was completely out of sight.*
*I was torn between Jocelyn and Clara now. Both of them were probably gonna hurt me if I attempted to talk to them. I decided I would just sit in a tree til I could be of some use.*
*I was happy to finally be alone, and away from my siblings. They had nagged me all day and I was never going to achieve anything in life with them always carrying me down. I sighed as I held my head in my hands on the park bench depressingly.*
I sulked my way through the town. The Time Fighters didn't trust me enough to show me their hideouts, and the Time Shifters didn't either. It was cold, so, so cold, and no one knew I was out here... If I froze to death tonight, no one would know. But even if they knew, would they even care? Now I was depressed. I walked into an all-night bar that never checked IDs and just sat at the bar, stewing in my misery.
I ordered a cheap beer and got the usual "You're too young to be drinking!" speech from the bartender. He always preached at me when I came in here, but never threw me out. I figured he could see I was down on my luck and so depressed I was indigo. He was real nice about letting me sit here until closing time (which was at nine in the morning) and always let me have a few beers on the house after I bought my first. I always thanked him graciously and offered to pay for them anyway ,but he always waved me away and said it was no trouble. He was a nice guy. He tried to pretend I didn't know he was only about my age, but never denied it when I asked him.
"So, what's your name, anyway? And don't give me any 'I'm just the bartender' bullsh*t,' 'cuz I know better. Don't worry, I'm not gonna tell the cops you work here." I purred. I'd taken more than a few sips of my beer, but not enough that I was actually drunk. I couldn't afford to get drunk, despite the fact that Russia was no longer communist people would still give me a hard time if I let my fake American accent drop. It was stupid, but I'd gotten my @$$ kicked at school enough times that I knew it was necessary.
*I decided to stop acting like a little sissy and get back home to the mansion. My siblings had probably left the water on and made the place a ocean or perphaps they stole all the treats from the pantry and stuffed themselves. Who knew, they were all devious little Ashby's at heart.*
I growled when he ignored me. Why were all the cute boys such jerks? "Answer me, please! I just want someone to talk to..." I muttered sullenly. He just shook his head and laughed eerily. He asked if I knew where I was and I nodded. "I'm in a Time Shifter bar, drinking a bar graciously given to me by a very handsome boy."
*I had walked furiously a pretty good distance at this point. I sighed wearily as the full exhaustion set in. I lowered myself onto a nearby park bench, tipping my head back to look up at the gray sky. Hopefully I wouldn't fall asleep...*
*My head fell back as I started falling asleep. I jerked awake as my head hit a hit a branch. I swore softly under my breath and slid out of the tree. Nap time ended quickly.*
"Oh God dude you are useless." I said from a nearby tree, loud enough for Gale to hear. He spun around, unsheathing a dagger and holding it tight in his hand. "Oh please. What are you going to do with that? Poke me?" A stupid joke but I laughed for effect. "We can't have you interfering with our Shifty little quests. Your friend Clarissa is probably gonna be joining us momentarily."
*I pinned the dude to a tree, my knife held to his throat. He seemed totally calm though I could kill him in a second.* "Who are you and what are going to do with Clara?" I growled, hoping I sounded menacing enough to back up my words.
*I shrugged and twisted Gale's wrist, snatching the knife out of his hand and slamming the hilt into his chest, sending him into a tree.* "None of your beeswax, mister. Thanks for the new knife though." I said, twirling the knife in my fingers. I walked over and put my foot on Gale's chest. "We don't want to walk away, or maybe carried away, with any booboos do we? Well, you better not struggle then."
"That's right." I said to the girl at the bar. What a pretty little thing she was, sitting there so unafraid. I wondered briefly if she was flirting with me, but shrugged it away. Pretty girls like her don't hang out in places like this unless they have some UGLY secrets.
*I really wanted to fight back but I was worried that would endanger Clara. I clenched my fists and glared.* "You're just a coward. You won't even tell me your name." I sneered.
"There's a difference between being a coward and being smart." I snapped back, sticking my nose in the air for emphasis.
"Okay, but what's your name?" I said, I was kind of pissed by now, so I put extra emphasis on the word name.
"Hm. You think you're smart?" I asked, cocking my head best I could pinned to the ground. "You might want to step back and take a look at yourself before you claim your 'smart.'"
"If you were smart you'd stop talking." I pointed out, twirling the knife dangerously right over Gale's head.
"I'm Solar Charlotte." I responded. Why were cute girls always so pushy? I repressed a sigh of irritation and simply told her "Have another beer." and pushed the second bottle over to her. I really did want to talk to her- she always had some funny story or weird philosophy to tell me about- it really didn't mater the subject, what she said always interested me- but I had my job to do.
"Okay. You should probably get back to your job, though. I'll just pay for the beers and leave." I said. Solar was nice, I didn't want him to lose his job for me. Then who would laugh at my stories and listen to my prattle on about my theories on time and space and existence itself? No one, that's who.
I nodded, and called over to a drunk guy trying to order another shot of whiskey. "You've had enough to drink, Frank, go home. Your girlfriend will be worried about you." Frank nodded and stood up on wobbly legs, then left after paying for his drinks. After he was gone, I turned my attention to the girl. "So now you know my name, what's yours?" I asked.
"I... My name is Ivanna Romanov." I replied cautiously. he just sort of smiled at me, like what I'd said was funny somehow. I certainly didn't see the humor in it.
"Hmmm, Romanov, huh? Wasn't that the surname of the last dynasty of the Russian Czars?" I said with a smile. She probably thought I was being a jerk, but I really liked history.
"Yep. How did you know? Nobody knows that anymore! But yeah, I'm directly descended from a minor prince who fled to France with his wife and kids. Weird, huh?" I said. I was more than a little tipsy by now. If I weren't, I wouldn't have old him my real name.
"I'm a history geek, I love this stuff. So you're descended from royalty, huh? Should I call you 'princess,' then?" I teased her playfully.
"Absolutely not!" I replied, Trying to sound angry but failing.
"I didn't think so." I said, grinning. It'd been so long since I'd last smiled. I couldn't remember a time before I'd met Ivanna that I wasn't miserable. "So what's your latest theory about how th universe works?"
"Well, my latest theory on time is kind of far-fetched. It's that there is no past or present: There is a continual vortex of time and energy continually happening. The past and present and future are all part of a chain of times that keep happening all at once, flowing smoothly together but never touching." I said between slow sips of beer. "Kind of silly, really, but it's just a theory. Can't be proven."
"O-kay. That's plenty strange. Any other new theories?" I said.
"Nope. I've been pretty busy, haven't had any universe-pondering time." I said glumly. "I have to go anyway. See you soon if I can."
"Well, bye, then." I said somewhat sadly. I loved to listen to her talk about all her crazy theories- quite a few of them were really cool. I watched her walk out the door on unsteady legs. I glanced at the clock on the wall- midnight. I looked around- Ivanna had been the last to leave, so I guessed it would be okay to close early. Everyone was almost always gone by two in the morning, anyway. I threw on a coat and scarf and rushed out the door. "Ivanna! Wait! You've had too much to drink, let me walk you home." I called to her she stopped, thank god.
I stared at him- he was offering to walk me home? That was freaky. "Okay, I guess. But I don't really have a home, so I don't know where you'd walk me to..." I admitted sheepishly. I could feel my cheeks growing red with the cold- and embarrassment.
I am sleeping peacefully in my tent waiting for some to come to my fortune booth. Then I hear someting I looked out side. *pulled out my dagger* It was a squirrel. I pet the lovely squirrel, and it ran away like everyone else has been doing
"You can crash as my place if you want. It's just outside of town. I don't think my parents would mind, they're always helping people out." I said.
"Thanks. I thought I'd have to sleep on a park bench tonight." I admitted, a blush creeping back into my cheeks. Suddenly, my face went white. "Your parents won't be pissed you invited a Time-Fighter over to stay the night? And a girl Time-Fighter at that?"
"Erm, I hadn't thought of that, but probably not... Come on, it cant hurt to ask." I said, trying to sound cheerful, but the effect was ruined by how I winced when I envisioned my parents getting all mad when I brought home a Time-Fighter girl and told them I'd told her that she could stay the night. I'd probably be grounded for the rest of my goddamn life
"Okay... If you say so. But if I get killed, I will come back and haunt you." I told him, half teasing, half serious. "Let's get it over with, then, shall we?" I asked, extending my hand to him."Now lead the way, Sherlock!"
It seemed kind of surreal as I took hold of the hand that belonged to the girl who'd seemed so angry and unapproachable for the last six months. We passed a tent on our way by and saw a white-haired girl petting a squirrel in the entrance. Ivanna made a comment about how the giirl was a traveling fortune-teller and how all her fortunes seemed to come true.
"Her name is Maria, I think, Maria White. I've had my fortune told by her a few times. They came true, you know. And they were really detailed fortunes, too." I babbled. I usually didn't babble on like this. "Isn't that weird?"
"I guess so." I told her. "We're almost there."
*I didn't want to be alone anymore, yet I did. I sat in the tree, staring into the distance as the tears stayed onto my eyes. My mother had originally died, and so had my brothers, though thats what I was told. My father was the only one left, and now with him gone, I had no family. What was I supposed to do?*
"Okay." I replied, then remained silent for the rest of the way because I figured I'd talked to much anyway and I was probably annoying him. I glanced at him from the corner of my eye. Jeez, why hadn't I noticed how cute he was before? Even with those freaky ears and that tail.
We walked up the long, winding driveway . "Erm, we're here." I said as we reached the door.
"I can see that." I said somewhat testily.
today I met a cute couple. The girl she has been to my tent before always a little scary but every nice.I wish I was blessed like her.I wish people would accept me the way I am. I wish I could approach a guy,but he would just run a way from me.I feel lonely in this life.
I thought "its dark enough" so I grabed my cloak and headed off into the forest. An hour of walking I found the couple standing outside looking at the moon *girl giggle*"I hope I'm not enterupting anything." I said being embarassed that I was messing up the mood
I heard a girl's voice laughing off in the woods. I wheeled around to face the direction the sound and bolted off in that direction. I grabbed the girl's by the shoulder from behind and held my katana to her throat. "Don't move a muscle or you won't be able to move at all." I instructed her menacingly. I got a look at her face and realized it was just Crazy Maria the Fortune Teller. "Oh. It's you." I said, and let her go.
I drew my sword and raced after Ivanna. I didn't want her to get hurt, but I knew she wouldn't thank me for intervening. "Ivanna! What's going on, Ivanna?" I called after her. I arrived on the scene to see her by another girl, the girl from the tent. "Isn't that Tent Girl?" I asked, bewildered.
"Yep, it's Tent Girl." I assured him. "But she sneaked up on me. I don't like that."
"I should have known." I muttered.
"yes" I said crying "that what I normaly get when I met some one a dagger at my throat" I said still crying "Well I normaly I wait until night to get some food or somthing I do this every night"I siad feeling a little better"I don't like being couped up in that tent this is only time I can come out" I told thim
"WHAT did you just say?" I asked menacingly. He visibly flinched, and his adorable little grey ears were pressed tight to his head. His tail was fluffed out and tucked between his legs, like a frightened dog.
I ignored Tent Girl's whimpering and advanced on Solar.
"I didn't say anything, Ivanna." I said smoothly, trying to get her to calm down.
"You better not have." I hissed. With a squeak, Solar exploded into a fox the size of a horse. "Great. Every time I meet a marginally nice guy, he turns out to be a freak!" I grumbled.
"Hey! I'm not a freak!" I protested. I turned to Tent Girl. "YOU don't think I'm a freak, do you?"
"Yes, Tent Girl thinks you're a freak. But you're a NICE freak, and that's what counts in the end." I told him.
"Hey! Tent Girl can answer for herself!" I retorted. I asked her again. "I'm not a freak, am I?"
I was walking down the street yelling "I just saw a purple snake barfing orange snails!" as loudly as I could. It wwas FUN! So I started singing the fun song! But that wasn't fun, so I stopped.
"You totally are!" I heckled him, my eyes alive with the spark of mischief. I turned angrily to Tent Girl. "You can go away now, Tent Girl."
"Don't listen to her, Tent Girl, you don't have to leave just because she says so." I protested.
"Whatever. I'm leaving. This was a bad idea! I'm going to go sleep on a park bench. This was so stupid! I don't know why I trusted you, Charlotte, you've done nothing but lie to me!" I yelled at him angrily and stormed away. Tears began to pour down my face. Why did it matter? I thought angrily. *He can pay attention to whomever he likes! He's not even mine, so why does it hurt like this?*
"I'm sorry about that... is your name Charlotte"I said apologizingalthough I really could'nt have done anything."Charlotte thats a nice name" I said trying to make him forget what just happened.
I made it to a bench just in time before I broke down. Why was I crying about that stupid jerk anyway? I didn't care about him, I really didn't!
I found Ivanna curled up on a bench just off the hiking trail. "Hey, are you alright? Ive, are you okay?" I asked. She refused to answer.
*people are upset with?Me why isit that happens all the time? Nobody in this world loves me.*I cried as I thought how those people look so good together. How the first person I talked to in a while is so cruel. And I ruined it.
"why dop you care?" I shout at him and punch him in the eye.
I wrapped her in a hug like I used to do when she was drunk and incoherent and sobbing. "I care because I've listened to you talk, heard you tell me how your grandfather forced you to marry a you didn't love, a man who hurt you. I listened to you talk about how your parents filed a divorce and took you away to keep him from killing you. I care about you, Ive, and I don't want to see you cry." I murmured into her ear.
I hugged him back and sobbed into his chest. "You're too sweet." I cried.
"No," I whispered, "I'm no sweet enough." A tear rolled down my face. "I don't deserve a friend like you."
"I don't care. You're my friend, and that's it." I said, hopping off the bench and wiping the tears from my eyes. "Come on, let's go steal Tent Girl's tent!" I exclaimed. "It'll be fun!"
"Okay." I said in agreement, and a few minutes later I found myself stealing a tent that was a girl's only home. And you know, I didn't even feel bad about it. after all, we left her stuff alone, we just took the tent. "Ha- wait 'til Tent Girl sees THIS!" I cackled maliciously.
(YAY! I'm finally not loopy! That doesn't means I won't be shouting about purple snakes and orange snails, though.) I saw a girl and boy stealing a tent. "Hey! Stop! That's Crazy Maria's tent!" I shouted. They didn't listen.
((Jackson, you nutjob.)) I laughed and smiled at Solar. "It should be pretty funny. Maybe she'll cry!" I giggled gleefully, planting a kiss on Solar's cheek. "You're a f*cking genius!" I laughed.
*I heard some shouting back the way I had come and turned slightly. Should I investigate? No. Whatever it was, Gale and Jocelyn could take care of it.*
I went home to see my stuff everywhere. I was devastated I did cry a little *It was my home and that b*tch and Charlotte tookit from me.* So I found what I could and found some food and atethen slept
"I know." I said. She smiled and laughed quietly.
"Come on, let's get out of here." I whispered in his furry ear.
*I walked over to the crying girl picking up her scattered stuff.* "Hey, it's Maria, right? Are you all right? I saw what those two did, it was awful. I tried to stop them, but they wouldn't listen to me. Noone ever does." *I said*
"get away for me you will hurt me too' I said.I was so sad and angry I couldn't think clearlyI was trying get back at that b*tch and that freak for stealingmy only!home.*But what could a weirdo like me do?*
(You're new here, so I'm going to blather on about snails. And you can't do anything about it!) "You know, I think that if you were a snail, you would be yellow one, cause yellow makes me sad." I said. Not that I really cared about snails. They're kind of awesome like undead monkeys, but better. "I like snails. Do you like snails? My name is Jackson Wilson. Nice to meet you, Yellow Snail Maria." I babbled.
(Hi I'm a firend of the person whose characters stole my tent)"Um...Hi I'm sorry I snaped at you its just they stole my home and I have nowhere to go."I said to this nice boy"By the way what is your name?"
(Oh, you know Sylvia! Don't tell her, but I think she'd be an ORANGE snail!) "I already told you. I'm Jackson." I said blankly. "70 years ago I was told that penguins would take over the world 30 years from now 300 years ago."
(cool)"oh right this whole thing has got my head messed up" I said.
(But that's BAD!) "I know, I was trying." I said with a creepy-ass grin.
"I ment my tent getting stolen but I guess what you said did it too."I said "This is just great where I'm Igoing to live I don't have any money..."I said *I am screwd*
I shrugged. "Whatever. You can sleep on a park bench at night. No one'll bother you there, tones of kids sleep theire at night when they don't have anyeplace else to go. You can enroll in the private school and they'll give you a dorm to sleep in." I told her. (I gotta go- my mom hates it when I stay up. Says it puts to much stress on me, weakens my immune system. I don't see the point. The doctor already said July was it, and I probably wouldn't even last that long. But it makes things easier for her when I do what she says)
That night I slept in the cool grass thinking what to do with my life next.*I don't want to be rejected by people again I wish a knight wounld come to my aid*I thought but I was so tried of this overwhelming day I drifted to sleep
I awoke to the blinding sunlight of day.*Another day what am I going to do now*I thought wellwhat can I do.*looking through money* "well I have $3.00and I need to get a bath." So I went to the store to get shampoo and took a bath.
Has I was bathing I had the weirdest feeling that I was being watched. When I got out I was siting their meditating I herd itagain this time it was comeing towards me.I had my dagger in hand ready for what I might have to do.
I saw a little girl in white *why is she out here alone*I thought is quite beautiful for a little girl."Hey what are you doing out here"
"Who are you! did that b*tch and freak send you to torture me more what else can you take away from me." I said again so pissedthat I wasn't thinking.
"I'm Damon and what is bugging you?" I said to this poor girl*dang what happened to her*
I heard shouting from my small cabin in the woods. Why was someone always shouting? I lived alone out here to get away from the shouting, not to hear more of it! I ventured out to see what was going on. I saw a small girl, perhaps around fourteen or fifteen, shouting at a boy of about my age. I sighed. "Stop this now." I commanded. "This boy has done you no harm. There is no need to shout."
"Well two people I didin't even know their name stole my tent forno reason they don't understand it was my only home."I explained to Damon.* maybe he is not one of thim*
"Well thats some back luck there" I said to the girl in white."And sorry to have woken you upmiss...?" I asked to this other girl simalar to the girl in white age.
"I see." I said to the girl. "But fighting is never the answer. If you need a place to go, I can take you to enroll in Stillingston Private School." Everyone went there, even I did.
"I know but you don't understand I was shunned from society I'm a freak" I explaned."If you don't know my name is Maria people would often come no-longer standingfortune booth and call me Crazy Maria and tent girl."
"Well how rude of them if thier is anything you need just ask me my home is just a mile away" I said. I didin't want to leave her but I had to get home.So I left her.
"Ah. A sob story." I said, losing my patience somewhat. "I do understand what it is like to be bullied and shunned. When I was in elementary school, I used to have to dodge rocks that were being thrown at me. I middle school, I had to hide in the bathrooms all lunch period or I would be beaten up at recess. So I moved out to my cabin in the woods where no one could torment or hurt me."
*crying*" I'm so sorry I was being selfish, but I don't you need a school uniform I don't have any money for text books..." I blabedon about anytiing to keep me for going to school.
"The school pays for the uniform, and there are no textbooks. It's all computerized." I told her, pulling a cigarette out of a pack in my pocket and lighting it with a flame dancing on the tip of my index finger.
A big smile showed up on my facefor along time I've wanted to goto school and now I have my chance."That nice guy Damon was his name I think I'll pay him avist thanks um... what is your name miss?" I asked her
"I'm Rosalinda Tyler. Be sure to head over to the School before too long, they stop accepting enrollments February second." I replied.
"K! thanks agian Rosalinda I'll never forget your name!" I said full of happiness. It felt like I was given another chance.*but what to do first* I waved good by and headed toward Damon's house.
"Fare well, Maria. I trust we will meet again." I whispered into the wind. ((Hey, Darbi, I just got a perm! My hair's all curly and it's awesome!))
((I'm doing my Soc St. outline and listening to music at the same time Sylvie and good for you!))As I walk through the forest I see the most wonderful flowers.Blue ones and lots of red roses.I was in a garden and some one was with me Damon holding a rose to his perfect face.*He lookes so handsome*"Uh...Hi again Damon"I said as I was blushing.
*These roses smell so good.*"Oh its you Maria... I think"I asked with my kind smile.
"I ask may stay here until I can buy a place"I asked ever so nicely."I understand if you feel uncomfortable haveing a girl stayI mean..." I was just blabed on
I dropped my spent cigarette and crushed it with the heel of my sandal. I picked up the remains and threw them in a trash bin not far away. I then headed home, wondering if my cat was waiting for me.
"Sure you can stay, but if my parents come around hide k."I said as I winked at Maria."You can sleep in the guest room my parents don't go in there often."
I was blushing "Y-you really don't mind."I asked cause I counld't belive that some one wasgoing to let me stay in their house let alone a guys house.
"Sure no prob after dinner when my parents are asleep I'll bring you food and blankets its fine." I told her."My parents aren'there right now why don't I show you to your room." I said as I walked toward my house.
I woke up on a park bench. Solar was no where to be seen. Of course, it was seven at night so he would be at work. How could I have been so stupid?
I felt sick- I had gotten so drunk last night that now I had a nightmare of a hangover. I looked at the tent on the ground. *I should probably give it back.* I thought sullenly. I ignored the severe throbbing in my skull and picked up the tent. I stood up shakily and walked on wobbly legs back to where Maria had been. She, along with all her belongings, was gone. I left the tent there and headed off to the Time Shifter bar. I didn't know why I had to go there again, the booze was crappy and the place was possibly the ugliest building on the face of the earth. But I had to. What if Solar met a cuter, friendlier, nicer girl there while I was sleeping off my bender? I could NOT allow that to happen.
I pushed open the door, and saw a pool of red liquid on the floor. A red-dyed, silver-furred, bushy-tailed fox lay in the middle of it, leaking the red all over the floor. A figure stood over him, laughing and holding a golden knife. "No!" I screamed at the ruddy sight. "Solar!" I screamed as loudly as I could. I rushed over to him. He had no heartbeat. He wasn't breathing. I pulled my katana from its sheath and advanced towards the figure. "Why the F*CK did you do this to him? WHY?!" I screamed, and slashed the figure in half before she could respond. She, like my beloved friend, had silver hair and yellow eyes. His mother. She was his mother. "What kind of mother kills her own son?" I asked coldly to the corpse of the woman who gave birth to my only friend. "A person for whom the title of 'mother' is no name they deserve." I answered the question and kicked the body aside. I knelt at my friend's body as the tears came down. "You were my one companion. Now you're gone, and I'm alone..."
I heard her voice, saw her beside my body. I saw my mother's body not quite ten feet away. She was holding a knife covered in blood. Ivanna's anguished sobs echoed in the empty bar. All the costumers had left when my mother had entered. That's right, my mother had been the one who ended my life. Why, though? My mother loved me! Oh, that's right, she was angry about "the time fighter girl" as she called Ivanna. I managed to reconnect with my body fully, to come back to life. "I.. Vanna. You should have known I'd come back for you. I always will." I whispered before passing out.
"You're alive... I thought you were dead..." I whispered. I watched as he reverted to fox form. I wondered why, but still scooped him off the floor and carried him over to the hospital. He changed back into human form when we arrived, and the staff immediately starte treating him. I waited in the lobby while they stitched him up.
The nurse came over to tell me he was fine, and I didn't think I'd ever been so relieved in my life.
I approached the girl on the chair. "Miss Romanov, if you would kindly follow me, there are some issues to be settled." I said briskly.
"O- okay. Erm- what do you mean, 'issues to be settled?'" I asked.
"I mean that I have some questions to ask you, starting with the most important one: Did you kill Mrs Candace Charlotte?" I said gravely.
"Wait, she's DEAD?" I asked. It was a pretty convincing lie. I was good at lying.
"Alright, then. Where are your parents?" I asked.
"I ran away from home." I replied wearily.
"Where do your parents live? Do you have a phone number I can use to contact them?" I said, resuming my questioning after the slight shock of her openly admitting to running away.
"Zey're in St. Petersburg, zey have no phone." I said, letting my false accent drop in my tiredness.
"Saint Petersburg... As in 'Russia,' Saint Petersburg?" I asked.
"Yes." I replied. I was so tired. So, so tired. Why was I so tired? It was so strange to be sitting here so normally. I was so used to weird now.
"Miss Romanov, please answer this truthfully. Are you staying with a relative or any other responsible adult while you're here?" I questioned her. If she wasn't staying with anyone, I would have to enroll her in Stillingston Private School. I doubted she'd want that, but it would have to be done.
"I have no family in America. I have been sleeping in park." I whispered. I was so tired my English was slipping. Why was I so tired? *So, so, tired...* was my last thought before I slipped into unconsciousness. When I woke up, I was in the police station. *How did I get here?* I thought. Officer Montoya was sitting beside me, a look of concern on her face.
"Are you alright?" I asked. When she nodded, I continued. "What happened, Miss Romanov?"
"Passed out. Too tired. Haven't slept well in days." I replied. "Are you going to arrest me for vagrancy?" I asked.
"No. We -that is, Detective Benson and- have to take you down to Stillingston Private School to be enrolled. That's where all vagrant children go. Some children were sent and enrolled by their parents, though." I told her, leading her to my black-and-white in the parking lot.
I sat in the back seat of the police car. I knew that there was no way out of this, and it made me so damn mad!
We drove in silence until we reached Stillingston Private Academy. "Get out." I ordered when we arrived. She complied.
The police officer took me to the office and I sat in one of the chairs. I tried listening in to what they were saying, but none of it really stuck. It was all boring stuff about the weather and stuff. But then the principal told Officer Montoya that he would get in very, very big trouble if he took a Russian citizen into his school without her willing to come or having her parent or guardian's consent. They argued about that for a while, but then they got the paperwork out and started enrolling me. I had to sign a seemingly endless amount of documents. It was quite tedious.
I was sleeping when I here a
noise.It was Maria in the
kitchen swinging around her
dagger and yelling Ghosts Ghosts
get away from me.I ran over woke
her up and quited her down and
got back her in bed.I was laying
in my bed thinking*What is with
this girl? I wish she counld tell
me what she is thinking.* But I
went to sleep.
needed to get to sleep.
I awoke to a face Good morning it
said It sared me so I fell out
of bed Damon brought me breakfast
*He is kinda crepy nice* "T-thank
you damon for this breakfast" I
((You're here! You're here!)) I trekked over to Damon Safehaven's house. It was three miles from my cabin, so that was quite a feat in a kimono like the one I was wearing and sandals. I tossed a rock at one of the windows of the house, trying to get Maria to come out.
"Well I'm glad your enjoing your
food Maria" I said."I got to go do
my chours see ya Maria."
a mintue after Damon went out
side some one through a rock at
my window I went out side and it
was Rosalinda "Hi whats up"
"We have to go enroll you! Come on, let's go!" I called out.
"Yah!! lets go" I said walking
with my pajamas on.
"You do have to get dressed first." I said, amused.
My face went red I ran back in
side saying "I'll be right back."
I found a pretty blue shirt and
pants and was bake outside."I'm
sorry as you saw I haven't bin to school in..." I explaned as I was counting my fingers.
"No need to apologize. No hurry up." I told her. We walked the five miles from Damon's house to Stillingston Private School. "Here we are!" I exclaimed as I ushered her into the office. There was the female officer in charge of rounding up vagrant children and an amber-haired girl with the strangest violet eyes sitting in a chair.
I saw Maria walk into the office with another girl, who was wearing a kimono. I groaned. I hoped she wouldn't be in any of my classes. But I also had better things to think about than freaky losers who lived in tents and had no sense of fashion.
("Welcoming committee" for the school.) I silently walked up to the main office's door, knocking. I had been called down to welcome yet another newbie. I didn't understand why I had to do so but I didn't see why I should turn the request down.
Alright, miss Romanov?" I asked. She nodded, so I continued to speak. "You'll be in room 13, here are the keys to your dorm."
I took the keys, grabbed my bag, and left the office. I shoved Maria as I went by, but whispered "I left your tent where you were camping." quickly before I left.
*I cleared my throat loudly as Ivanna passed. I wanted to just get this over with at this point in time.*
"What?" I asked the green-haired girl.
"You must be Ivanna." I said with a friendly smile. "I'm Ivy. I'm here to show you to your dorm and stuff."
I left the premises quickly and returned to work.
"Yeah, I'm Ivanna Romanov." I said gratefully. "I have no idea where the dorms are." ((Building 13, right? That's the building the dorms were in on the old first generation. Ah, don't you miss Felix and Anjali and Tommy and Violet and Sylvie and Simon and all the rest of the old crew?))
(Yeah I really miss the 1st generation. Me and Cassie are actually working on writing a story based on that rp. Yeah, let's go with that building.) "Well, there are like 10 buildings made for dorms and two big ones for the actual school." I explained, starting towards the door. "Building 13, where your dorm is, is the one all the way on the left of the dorm side. I'll show you."
"Hello, Principal Webster! This here is Maria White, and she would like to enroll in Stillingston Private Academy." I said, slapping on layers of false sweetness over my true disdain for the principal. No one, and I mean NO ONE liked him. Not even the hippies and peace activists.
"Okay." I said, following her.
"Um...I'm Maria nice to meet you"
I said as I bowed my head.
"Hmmp! Another ratty little homeless student?" I said dismissively. "Fine. Here are the documents. Girl, sign the spaces that require your signature, then hand them back to me."
"ok!" I said quickly because I
know now how the principal acts
and don't want to up set him.
*I walked to a building that was located on the far side of the snow-covered courtyard. I shivered a little bit as I neared.* "Here it is. Your room is on the 2nd floor, number 26." I explained with a nod. "Now I have to go take care of yet another person. I'll be back if needed."
"That can't be right! The principal gave me the keys to number thirteen! He said that would be my dorm!" I said confusedly.
"Don't be upset if Principal Webster snaps at you." I whispered to Maria. "Even the Amity International chapter and the Peace Club hate him." I explained/
"Oh...k so I get my own room!" I
said full of happiness*Now I can
have my life back again*
"Yes, you do." I snapped. "You get room sixteen." I spat and handed her the keys to the number 16 dorm.
I filled out the rest of the paperwork in a huff. "Miss Ivy Smith will be here shortly to show you to your dorm." I snapped and went back to my office.
I looked at my dorm in awe. It was amazing! It was papered in a striped pattern of deep purple and maroon and burgundy! I set my stuff down and just looked around. I was in love with the place. It was all my favorite colors in one place!
*I wandered back to the office to pick up the next newbie. It was one of the last people of the day so I was almost off the hook. As I approached, I nodded to her in greeting.* "Hello. You must be Maria. I'm Ivy." I said.
"It's okay, Maria. If you ever have any questions, you can ask Ivy or myself." I told her.
I walked out of the school and went to the hospital to see how Solar was doing. When I reached the hospital I went up to the front desk. "Ma'am, do you know in which room I can find Solar Charlotte?" She, however, told me to screw off because she had better things to do than talk to a stupid kid. I flipped her the bird and she called security, who dragged me from the premises.
I left the hospital in tears. I wanted to see my friend, dammit! The last I'd seen of him, he was all covered in blood and barely breathing at all and I wanted to make sure he was okay!
I just got back from picking some flowers and Maria was gone out of her room. *wait a sec I saw Maria
leave with Rosalinda I'll find
her*. I ran into the woods and
found a tent laying in the ground
*this must have been what Maria
lived in*. I walked a little more
and saw Rosalinda's cabin. I koncked on the door. "Rosalinda are you
here!" I yelled
I had barely arrived back at my cabin when some moron started banging on my door. "What do you want?" I demanded fiercely.
"I'm sorry I was here to know whether
you've seen Maria she slept over at my house and I made her breakfast and
I went to my garden and when I
came back she was gone I thought
since you know her you might know
where she went" I said. She looked a little annoyed as I was rambling on about a girl who she obviously
doesn’t really care about.
"She's at Stillingston Private School. She'll be going to school there." I replied.
"Thanks can I call you Rose well I
worry about Maria from time to time
and the fact that she left so suddenly
and with out telling me I thought she was being bullied by the people who stole her tent"as I went on and on
I felt I counldn't help but blush as I was talking about Maria. She is quiet an interesting girl.
"No, you may NOT call me Rose." I said coldly. "And she's doing fine."
"Sorry its just that your name is hard to say. Well see later then" I told her as I walked away but I was still going to visit Maria and just say hi. so i walked towards the school.
*I walked down the long pathway, winding towards an abandoned park, twriling my dagger as I was about to put it away.*
"Ah!" I uttered as I accidentally shifted in my sleep and fell off the park bench. I stood up and quickly swept my clothes free of dirt. I smiled embarrassingly. and walked off.
*My ear's perked up as I heard a thump. The pace I was going at was-- human, so I kept going, almost reaching the area.*
*I hadn't heard from Gale and that was starting to ever so slightly worry me. Usually when I got mad at him like that, he at least tried to contact me after a while. Maybe I had really hit a nerve or something. I shrugged it off and kept walking. We were TimeFighters after all, maybe he was just doing something more important.*
*I eventually put my dagger in my belt, putting my shirt over it, and started to pick up the pace.*
*I heard faint footsteps a little ways away. Were they coming towards me? I strained to hear the footsteps better but failed. Maybe it was just time to go home...Maybe I was just imagining it...*
*I slowed down a little as I neared a turn in the road*
*I was starting to get a bit nervous. I laid a hand on my father's dagger which lay hidden under my shirt, held by a sheath on my belt.*
*I put on a straight, uncontent face, and turned the corner, staring at the ground at something 'interesting.'"
*I spun around, seeing the older boy.* "Who are you?!" I demanded, stepping back cautiously.
*I looked up, looking clearly, what's the word, dumbfounded, "Hi, I'm Felix,"I said, with equal cautiousness.*
*He seemed...Fine I guess...* "I'm Clara." I replied, I thought for a moment and realized something. "Were you following me?"
*I shook my head, "No, I was going to go into town, I was called on a mission."
"A mission? I didn't hear any calls..." I replied uncertainly, cocking my head.
"Straight from base,"
"Must be bad then." I said stubbornly.
"A couple of Time Shifters spotted taking kids out of town after the fight."
*I nodded. That was...Believable. That stuff didn't really happen though. And why hadn't anyone else heard? Gale was one of the most honored TimeFighters and if he had been contacted he would have contacted me. Hm...* "If you say so." I replied simply, turning to walk away.
"You can come with me if you like?"I called, not too hastily.
"Okay." I said hesitantly. I walked back over and stood little ways away from Felix. "Oh, have you by chance seen my friend Gale? Tall, dark brown, kinda auburnish hair?"
"If I'm so stupid and insignificant why haven't killed me yet?" I spat at Onyx.
"Cause you're a key pawn in this game." I shot back mockingly. I stepped back, giving Gale space to get up. I had gotten the signal from Felix that it was safe to move to the next part of plan. I drew a gun and pointed it at Gale. "Come on. We're taking a walk."
*I shrugged, "I've heard his name around, but I haven't seen him personally."
*I nodded, shrugging it off.* "Well, might as well get moving." I sighed.
Luckally I rememered where damon's house was just follow the roses. I walked into his house to here crying. I followed the crying to Damon's room. It was full of rose's and pictures of crosses "Damon?...why are you crying?" he just looked at me "Its ok me and Ivanna are on good terms now...Damon-" A soft hand at my back. A hand in my hair. And his lips pressed against mine. I've never felt this before.*what is this feeling its...*
I cried *why am I crying over Maria I told her to stay away from me, but I don't want her to*. Then I herd Maria talking to me and I could do nothing but kiss her. I couldn't help my self I had to. I just told her to stay away from me and she didn't listen to me. when I let go she just stared at me "Maria I..." I said but she got up and walked away with that "OK I'M FREAKED OUT" expression on her face. *Damnit! I F*ckin messed up why did I kiss Maria?*
Well the min. that Maria walked out my parents came in and asked "Why was that girl in our house." "Well I was helping her with her studies" I said, but They saw through my lie, so they kicked me out. I didn't want to be on the street so I headed to(weather I wanted to or not) The Stillingston Private School to Maria.
*I didn't do any gentleman type
things, just continued walking,
not looking back to see if she was fallowing.*
*I followed a little ways away, my hands shoved into the pockets of my sweatshirt. I honestly didn't know what we were doing but I didn't feel like doing anything else. I was still a bit angry at Gale.*
*I couldn't say this was all going 'according to plan,' so I was improvising. What could you do? She was....too smart.*
*Maybe it was my over imaginative mind but I was starting to worry about Gale. He was being very...Quiet? I fidgeted with my phone in my pocket, considerring calling him.*
*I glanced back casually, turning back to walking towards town. If all was going according to plan, Onyx would have Gale!, it out be excellent.*
"What are you grinning about?" I asked curiously, seeing a rather scary grin on Felix's face.
"Just what I'm gonna do to those Time Shifters if they hurt any of those kids,"he shrugged, his grin disappearing in an instant.*
*I nodded, still a bit suspicious. Honestly, he didn't seem like the type that would care about the saving kids part, more the mauling of the TimeShifters. Still, I was still a bit nervous. Should I leave? Hm...*
*I kept my face straight, normal. I didn't have anything else to grin about. It was bad, she was killing my... buzz?*
*I felt the buzz of my phone in my pocket and took it out, stopping and flipping it open. The number was blocked. I put my ear to it and heard Gale speaking.* "Gale! Why is your number blocked? Where are you!?" I said hastily, not meaning to sound so cheerful since I was supposed to be mad at him but...
*Wow. She really thought I was Gale. In reality, Gale was unconscious and hiden up in a tree.* "Clara! I'm glad you're okay! I...Don't know where I am actually." I paused for nervous affect. I was good at that. "I'm fine Clara. Don't worry. Anyway, I gotta go. I have to answer a call. Bye!"
"What! Wait! Gale!?" I yelled into the receiver but he had already hung up. He had never done that before. He couldn't be okay...
*I stopped casually to wait and climb into a tree. I hadn't intentionally wanted to eavesdrop, but my ears were super sensitive, what could you do?*
*I flipped the phone closed and looked up at Gale's unconscious body draped over the highest branches of a nearby tree. * "Hear that Gale? You're little friend is scared and worried about you! So sweet. Too bad I'm leaving you there to die and have some hobo find you're body and use it for a great meal!" I mocked. I jumped into the tree and sliced up Gale's arms and legs to make it look like he had been in battle for good measure and to speed up this process. "Bye bye!" I said, jumping out of the tree and walking causally away.
*I turned reluctantly back towards Felix.* "Sorry about that. It was Gale, just checking in." I partially lied.
*I shrugged, "Whatever,"
"So, hi." I said sorta awkwardly. What was I supposed to say? How's your life been? Do you have parents? Are they nice? Oh, whoops. I didn't know they're dead. Yeah. That sounds pleasant. "Wassup?"
*I tried not to raise an eyebrow as the human started to make conversation.... Good? I thought, trying to reply. I ended up just shrugging, "Not much. The usual job, family troubles, etcetra," I smiled.
"Ah, that's always fun." I said, smiling back. I sighed, thinking about my past. I missed my mom and my dad had always wanted me out of his life. I stared at my shoes with a sorta faraway look, sorta zoning out.
*I didn't press about her life. I would obviously press some other time..... Losing his train of thought, he caught something that he had thought, 'press some other time..' why had he used those words? She'd be dead....right? I shook my head, coming back to reality.*
*I started to have a swell of anxiety that remained unexplained after some pondering. I shrugged and pushed it the back of my mind.* "Are we almost there?" I asked.
*I turned and squinted towards town. The sun was shining right into my face, but It didn't bother me at all, but it wuold bother anyother human. "Probably five minutes or so,"
*I sighed. I noticed the fact that he had just about stared right into the sun and just squinted. That wasn't right...He couldn't be a...TimeShifter!?!? No that was ridiculous...*
*I shrugged as I started walking towards town.*
*My instincts hadn't failed me before but...This just seemed crazy. Why would a TimeShifter want with her anyway? Did this have something to do with Gale's weird call?*
*I didn't hesitate to keep walking towards town. Though I didn't eat human food--and enjoy it, I'd still eat it if it means to be in public. My eyes were growing darker without and--blood?* (Is it o.k if Time Shifters eyes get darker when they don't eat)
(Yeah.) "Are you okay?" I asked. I could see Felix seemed to be having some sort of issue that I really couldn't figure out.
"Yea... just hungry,"I admitted, truthfully.
"Oh, well we could stop for some food then. I think there's a diner nearby." I recommended.
*I nodded,"Cool, we'll stop there," I decided. Even though that wasn't what I ate-- and it didn't particularly smell good, it's still something to keep unning on.*
*I walked a little ahead to lead the way. The diner was just a few blocks away.A thought flashed through my mind that I pushed quickly away. It screamed RUN! RUN! But I ignored it.*
*I fallowed Clara interestedly, as I wondered what kind of diner it was, and if I was still human, if I'd really like it. I remember I used to like... what was it? Oh! Cheezburgers!
"What do you want?" I asked as I slipped into a booth. I was probably just gonna get a cheezburger and soda or something. I wasn't horribly hungry.
*I scanned through the menu, finding the cheezburger with pickles and ketchup, and I smiled, "Probably a cheezburger and a coke," I decided.
*I nodded as a waitress came over, beaming sorta stupidly.* "Hello! What can I get you two?" I she said ever so sweetly. "I'll have a cheezburger and a pepsi with the homemade fries please." I replied.
*As the waitress turned towards me, she flipped her hair, and blinked her eyes < "What would you like, hon'?" she asked, as I replied, bored, "I'll have the same but with a cherry coke," setting down the menu and turning my attention towards Clara.
*I smiled a bit nervously. I wasn't really thrilled when I was getting stared intently at but whatever. I guess it was better than being ignored.* "So, um..When did you first become a TimeFighter?"
"A few years ago after I ran away from the adoption center."I replied, simply, as the waitress walked away, looking like she was sad. "What about you?"
"Well, when I was five my dad sent me away to military school. It really sucked but it taught me some of the basics as far as defending myself. When I was eight, I met Gale. We became buddies and everything and we ended up busting out of the school together and running away. We found Stillingston and some of the teachers around here took us and eventually mentored us. I've lived here with Gale ever since." I explained. I felt sort of like I was ranting but Felix was listening which seemed unusual.Even Gale zoned out during my recollections.
*I sighed and stretched as I walked off the school's grounds. I looked around for Onyx. I was supposed to be meeting him here right now! I was getting to a point where I couldn't stand his inability to read a clock.*
"Sup?" I said from behind, making Ivy jump. I laughed as she glared coldly done. "Sorry I'm late. That Gale dude is a stubborn one."
"Whatever." I said dismissively. I grabbed Onyx's sleeve and started dragging him towards our destination. "C'mon. We're supposed to be at the diner in five minutes!"
"Relax! I stole my dads car. That creep is always so drunk he wouldn't even realize if someone took his house and rolled him away in a shopping cart." I laughed. It seemed like a random event but that had in fact happened before. That's around when I had moved out of the house cause I couldn't stand my dad anymore.
*I hesitated before I nodded in cooperation.* "Fine. Let's hurry." I said hastily. I sprinted towards the car after I had snatched the keys from Onyx's clumsy grip. I slipped into the drivers side and started the car up. I revved the engine as Onyx drew near. Since it was appropriate, I took out my crappy sunglasses and slipped them on, driving off towards the diner as Onyx climbed in.
"God you drive like a maniac." I muttered after situating myself yet again in the seat as Ivy took another sharp turn.
"You say it like it's a bad thing!" I laughed, slamming on the brakes into a parking spot in the diner's small parking lot. I laughed even more as Onyx was thrown forward and hit his head on the windshield. I snapped out of it quickly, getting my seriousness on. "C'mon. Stop messing around. Let's go."
"I still I can't believe you're not bipolar." I muttered, stepping outside and walking alongside Ivy, who still had her sunglasses on, into the diner.
"How many years were you at the military school?"I asked, actually interested. In the back of my head I was yelling at myself because out of the corner of my eyes, there he was, Mr. Big Hotshot Boss himself and his little pest coming oout of a car-- stolen I presume, and into the diner!
"Three." I answered. I remembered some of the events at the dreary school and shuddered. I turned ever so slightly to see a green haired girl and a tall black haired boy come into the diner and sit at a corner booth. They didn't seem unusual so I just ignored them.
"That must have sucked,"I replied, thinking about my 5 years in military camp. I tried to pay no notice to the two teens who came in and sat in a corner booth, about 7 feet away from us. The waitress came and gave us our food and walked away, not even glancing at us. I stared at the cheeseburger, which should have been bringing off an delectebale smell, but was sending off horrible reeks. It wasn't as bad as some Time Shifters would think it was, it almost smelled....o.k? I picked up a french fry and put it into my mouth, eating slowly.
*I ate the food like a normal person, nothing unusual.* "Do you know those two?" I asked curiously. I noticed Felix glancing almost nervously at the green-haired girl and black haired boy. I had never seen them.
*After chewing the third french fry I had picked up, I looked up and answered, "We've.... worked together before. A little trouble was caused and we don't... cooperate (?) anymore," I couldn't seem to find the right words to say.
*I cocked my head in slight confusion and a bit of curiosity. I looked over at them again and realized something.* "Doesn't the girl work at the school?" I asked.
*I nodded, "Yea, she does," and continued to take small bites out of my cheeseburger and think about what could happen today.*
*I glimpsed the boy getting up. He brushed by the table on the way to the bathroom. I caught a whiff of a familiar scent on him.* "Gale," I breathed, just barely able to hear my exclamation myself. What was Gale doing around this dude.
*I stared at her with a confused expression, and put down my cheeseburger, taking my cherry coke and sipping it silently, hoping Onyx wouldn't do, say, or have an expression that would give this away. I kind of liked talking to this girl.*
*I bit my lip and quickly smiled.* "Sorry. Zoned out for a moment." I said hastily, laughing a bit nervously. "So, um, anything interesting been going on lately?"
*I shrugged, smiling, "Not much, just hte usual-- fighting Time Shifters, talking to people, improvising, just normal things," was my answer, as I looked down at my shoes for a moment, before turning to look at the window.*
*I nodded, honestly having nothing else to say. I settled on munching on my cheeseburger, thinking. Had I imagined Gale's scent on the boy? I was a bit jumpy and that could confuse people. I sighed and nudged at my french fries.*
*I set my napkin down and got up, "I'll be right back,"was all I said, before trudging towards the bathroom.
*I nodded and sat back sighing and thinking.*
*I was walking out of the bathroom and saw a rather angry looking Felix drawing near.* "Sup 'Lix?" I said. I knew it drew Felix nuts when I called him 'Lix and that's why I did it.
"What are you doing here?!"I growled, blocking the path out of the hallway that went to the bathroom.
"Psh. I'm hungry, duh." I replied, leaning against the wall. "Plus, Ivy requested it. You know how it is."
"Yea, you two lovebirds! Gotta love the little snotty, rude, and annoying pest!"I said in a lovey-dovey voice.
*I crinkled my nose in disgust* "At least I'm not hitting on TimeFighters." I said in the same lovey-dovey voice.
"It's all part of the plan, besides, if you ruin it, you'll lose the war, the plan, and probably your general, sod on't mess anything up!"I hissed, eyes blazing.
"Dude, nothing's gonna get messed up. Trust me. You're girlfriend thinks she's going crazy, don't worry. If anyone's going to ruin this plan, it'll probably be you." I said calmly, yawning.
*I glared at him, pushing him aside and going towards the bathroom, though, obviously not having to go.*
*I made little mocking noises and walked back to my booth, talking quietly with Ivy.*
*I rolled my eyes, walking into the bathroom. I walked in and saw a hobo pulling down his pants, and I turned towards the door as I rushed out, going to the table, my expression horrified.*
"What's with you? It looks like you saw a ghost." I said, cocking my head in curiosity.
*I shook my head, expression still petrified, as I returned to my seat, and ate a french fry.*
"Hm..." I muttered, continuing my messing around with a french fry.
"Hobos..."I muttered, almost silently, starting to eat the rotten food again. Ugh. I thought, seeing the lovebirdssit at their booth.
*I shivered* "Have you ever met a cannibal hobo?" I asked.
"Umm... that depends... I probably just saw one, but personally, not really?"It was kinda a question.
*I shrugged* "They're scary." I said simply.
I wanted to go to the diner before I headed to the school. And I saw a couple they looked so good together. I walked in and I saw a weird but familiar looking girl *I think she works at the school. I saw her when I went to see Maria*
*I nodded in agreement, close to finishing my burger. I saw the newcomer come in and glance at the love birds, and I smiled, seeing his expression, I guessed he thought they were dating.*
*After finishing crying for a while, I wobbled my way down towards the diner, walking into it, staring wide eyes as I walked into the door to see Clara sitting with a boy, he was pretty cute though too.... I spotted another couple, and I could see glares being sent table to table. I simply shrugged, going towards the counter to sit up there. I couldn't help but stare at them.*
*I glanced up, seeing Jocelyn. I could see her expression and just grinned. Hm, maybe she knew Gale was really okay.* "I'll be right back." I said, hopping and walking over to Jocelyn. "Sup?"
*It was fun to annoy people with the whole lovebird thing. At this point, it was more of a joke than anything.*
*I couldn't help but smile as Clara's friend came into the diner. Yes, I just said Clara instead of 'That Time Fighter.' Bad? Totally. I watched as Clara walked off towards her friend, seeing her (Jocelyn) stare at me. I winked before returning to my fries. I couldn't help but glance at Onyx and Ivy and almost gagged as I saw them making kissy faces.*
"Who the hell is that?"I asked Clara, totally ignoring her question, glancing at him one more time. He was WAY too cute for Clara, no offense to her, but it was true. I turned my attention to my friend, glaring as she chose what words to say as an answer.*
"His name is Felix. New friend of mine." I replied, grinning. I found it pretty hilarious that Jocelyn doubted me so much. "Hey, do you know where Gale is? I haven't heard from him..."
*I shrugged, "I ran away from him when you ran off--- my dad died..."I choked a little, returning to my original stance, "O.k.... Just a friend?"I questioned.
"Oh...kay. I'm sorry." I said. I wasn't expecting THAT. Jocelyn was known to be a bit random. "For now." I replied with an evil grin. I knew it was killing Jocelyn to hear this and it was fun!
*I made a undecided expression. I'd always assumed Clara would always be with Gale, since they'd die alone if they didn't have each other. (:D) Clara would be the crazy lady who adopted a whole bunch of cats, but they all either ran away or got tooken away from the humaine society. Gale would probably be that creepy stalker guy who comes up behind 16 year old girls and starts....touching them?*
*I woke up, my vision fuzzed at the edges. I could feel a stinging yet almost numb pain throughout my body. I sat up and almost fell out a tree someone had thrown my in. It must have been that black-haired dude! I couldn't remember his name...My brain was all fuzzy. My head throbbed and I reached up to feel a bloody lump on the side of my head. There were cuts across my legs and arms that could be easily treated. I pulled out some bandaids I kept inmy pockets and took care of the cuts. I didn't know what to do about my head. I slid ungracefully out of the tree and wandered towards town.*
*I rolled my eyes. I could guess what Jocelyn was thinking about. She was extremely predictable at this point. "Well, I think I might want to head back home soon..." I muttered to myself, considering it.
"Well.... that may be best..."I coudln't help but say, and smiled, "If he asked for your number, would you give it to him? Do you realize that he's, CUTE! What's up with the other couple, I mean really! They seem fake..... OhhH! I'm SO excited!"
"Calm down, Jocelyn!" I said, trying not to laugh at how ridiculous she was acting. "Of course I would. He's a cool dude. I don't know. The black-haired dude creeps me out and the green-haired girl is just annoying."
"I wonder if he has a brother!" (Ideaz I deaz!) I screamed, turning into a full circle on the twirly chair, not caring how many people heard me. "THIS IS SO COOL!"
"I worry about you, Jocelyn. I really do." I sighed.
"WELL STOP! YOUR JUST BI-POLAR OK! WHAT KIND OF FRIEND ARE YOU! YOU'D BETTER ASK HIM IF HE HAS A BROTHER! OH MY FREAKING GOD! WHAT KIND OF FRIEND DOES THIS! BAI CLARA, NEVER AGAIN!"I screamed, running out of the diner, screaming as I, truthfully, accidentally crashed into a car that came by. "I'm ok!"I yelled, now crashing into a tree.
*I put my head in my hands on the counter, moaning and laughing at the same time. After I had recovered myself, I sat back at the table.* "Sorry 'bout that." I sighed.
*I shrugged, "Some friend,"I laughed, watching her run into the park, falling over a stone.*
"Yeah. She's better when she's not...Spazzing." I laughed in reply. I squinted, catching a glint of movement. It was probably nothing...
"I do have a brother....just to let you know,"I shrugged, trying not to flash a smile.
"Ha. Can he tolerate that?" I nodded my head towards the window where Jocelyn had run right into a tree.
*I shrugged, "If he really liked her, I guess....." I smiled, as I saw Jocelyn fall to the ground.
*I laughed, grinning afterward* "That'll take time and patience." I sighed.
"Patience is correct.."I murmured, looking down at my almost empty plate. I ate the food, and I couldn't say I enjoyed it, but it preoccupied me.*
*I sat back, looking up at the ceiling. I really didn't know what to say or do at this point. I opened my mouth to say something when I saw another flicker of movement outside. I saw a familiar flash of dark aurburnish-brown hair and a tall figure among the trees in the park. He was dragging himself along, looking down right whipped.* "Gale..." I breathed, looking outside, unsure of what to do.
*I flickered my attention back outside the window to see a tall, auburnishh-type haired kid, scars, cuts, and blood all over him. I flicked a very, very, un-human glance at Onyx and Ivy, before I looked back out the window.*
"Uh...I gotta go..." I stuttered. Ididn't want to leave but Gale was in an obviously life-threatening situation.
"I can help, if you'd like."I offered, glancing at the kid again, who looked like he was gonna pass out.
*It took me a moment to process what Felix said. I nodded, smiling thankfully. I stood up quickly and rushed outside* "Gale!" I yelled, dashing across the street and right over to Gale. I automatically lowered him to the ground/ "Just, hold on." I turned to Felix. "Do you have some gauze or bandaids or something?"
*It didn't click with Clara but when I looked over at that dude I automatically saw TimeShifter. I opened my mouth to say something but the world spun before me, making my train of thought veer off course.*
"The diner probably does, I'd bet that they deal with this all the time, I'll go ask,"I replied, after rushing out of the diner, only to rush back in. I asked a waiter, who ran into the back in order to get me a saftey kit, and I turned towards Onyx and kinda muttered what I was saying, though I knew he could hear, "What do I do? If I don't help them, they'll not trust me...."
"Just play along. Help the dude and Clara. You're bound to learn some important secrets if you keep with them." I muttered back, grinning evilly.
"Don't try to talk, just sit tight." I whispered to Gale, smiling comfortingly.
*I shrugged, "Whatever," I replied, as the waiter came out with the kit, and I rushed back outside. (Something to realize, their conversation was only in like a second in a half! :D)
"Thanks." I said quickly to Felix, grabbing the kit. I opened it quickly and applied some disinfectant to Gale's arm and leg wounds. I noticed some blood crusted to his hair. I put my hand to his head and felt a sickening bloody lump. "Someone must have hit and knocked you unconscious. That's why you're all loopy." I realized. I took out some scissors out of the kit and cut the hairs on the wound short and put a bandaid on it. "I'll go get you some water. I'll be right back." I sprinted off towards the diner to get some water.
*I leaned against the front counter of the diner, grinning as that girl Clara rushed in. I tripped her and snickered to myself as she fell over.* "Why in such a rush?" I asked.
"Why do you care?" I nearly spat. I walked up to the counter and kindly asked for some water. They handed me a bottle of it and I thanked them, leaving a couple of dollars. The dude suddenly grabbed my shoulder and yanked me back. "What do you want!?"
*I stood there, awkwardly. The kid smelled SO good. My hand twitched as some more blood seeped out of his head, and I quickly put them in my pockets. I hummed for a moment, wondering how capable I was of all this. The whole day I hadn't thought of anything about blood, and because it was now indented in my heasd for the rest of the night, I realized, Clara smelled goood. Like, really goo,, in the I guess you could say creepy way. What were you going to do when you could shift into ANYTHING you want, as long as you run on blood It's just what happened.*
"Psh. Nothing. Just wanted to wish you good luck. God." I muttered, stalking back to my table after shoving Clara back towards the door.
*I rushed back out with the water, hading Gale the bottle. He took it shakily but drank a bunch. He shook his head and sighed, apparently clearing up.* "Are you okay?" I asked, obviously really concerned.
"I'm-uh-Fine." I grunted. I was still a little woozy but much better now that I was patched up. Clara smiled in relief and gave me a hug. I glared over her shoulder at the Felix dude. He was soso obviously TimeShifter! How did Clara miss it?
*I stared back at this-- Gale, confused. He couldn't possibly know I was a Time Shifter, couldn't possibly. This was how I looked every day, and when I was in my Time Shifter/ Time Demon shape, I looked exactly the same. I suddenly felt the urge to turn into my now normal form and just rip this kid apart. *
*I sighed, standing up and helping Gale up and brushing myself off.* "Well, I guess we should be heading home. It was awesome meeting you." I said with a grin at Felix.
"See 'ya around,"I promised, flashing a quick glance at Gale that could have ment anything. I turned around to start walking down main street, and started towards-- no where in particular, not looking back.*
*Once Felix was out of earshot I sighed and shook my head.* "TimeShifter." II muttered.
"What?" I exclaimed, caught totally off guard. "What do you mean 'TimeShifter'?! Felix isn't a TimeShifter!"
"If you could just stop staring at him dreamily and take a step back, you'd realize, quite bluntly, that he's a TimeShifter!" I snapped.
"Whatever. We're just gonna have this argument again! YOU. ARE. NOT. MY. DAD!" I snapped angrily. "Or, maybe you'e just jealous."
"Jealous!?" I said, totally astounded and caught off my guard. "Jealous of a /Timeshifter!?/"
"Exactly. If you weren't as beaten up as you are, I would leave you sitting here on the curb and locked out of the house but that's just cruel at this point." I growled, dragging Gale along. He was really starting to annoy me.
"Aw I appreciate that." I replied, my voice dripping with sarcasm. We reached the house and I limped up the porch myself and unlocked the door. We lived in what some people call a double decker house and we lived upstairs. I lead the way, totally ignoring Clara.
*I followed Gale into the house and sighed. I looked into the fridge and sighed again.* "Crap we need food. I fished through my pocket and dug out a credit card. It was my mom's old credit card. Long story short, I'm good with technology.* "I'm going to go pick up some stuff. Have fun alone." I snapped, going back outside.
*I started towards the diner again, only to see the Gale encounter. I honesty think Gale is jealous of Clara because she's hanging out with Felix, but... there was something about him....*
*I walked a bit sullenly down the street, looking down at my feet. I obviously wasn't going shopping. More...unwinding I guess.*
*I sorta walked, almost kinda skipped down the street. I obviously wasn't normal. I was quite far from it. I saw that Clara girl again and just had to be annoying. I ran across the street and yelled out randomly. I pushed her over into a shallow snow drift, laughing crazily.*
*I decided it was tree sitting time, so I found a nice tree and climbed up it.
"D*CK!" I yelled as the black-haired dude started running off. I struggled to my feet, shaking snow off of me and shivering. I started running after him to try to get back at him for that rather rude action.
*I ran more for more life than anything else cause I could tell that chick was angry. I felt something whiz past my ear and looked down to see a knife sliced into the ground. I rounded the corner and saw Felix look up at me, totally baffled. * "Your girlfriend's NUTSS!!!!" I yelled, running right past.
"She's not my fucking girlfriend!"I yelled back, running after him, hoping I wouldn't get hit by a knife.
*I rounded the corner and ran right into Felix* "AHHH!!!" I yelled, falling into yet another snowdrift. "DAMMIT!"
"Nice,"I replied, going to help her up. I was stuck in this situation again. Hmpff..*
"That douche ran across the street and shoved me into a snowdrift!" I muttered angrily, excepting the help. I shivered again, and glared in disgust after the dude.
*I took my jacket off--- that was what I was taught to do--- and gave it to her, shivering for a moment at the coldness... It was starting to get dark out and the moon was coming out. I always enjoyed the nightime, it was peaceful.*
*I eyed Felix curiously before I took the jacket. I sighed, my breath showing in the cold.* "God I don't want to go back home but I don't know what else to do." I muttered to myself, mostly thinking out loud.
*I didn't say anything as I looked athte pavement. There were lots of worn out gum patches, and cracks. This street seems as if it had been there forever, occupying my attention.*
*I blinked, thinking. I didn't mean to do this but my thoughts just seemed to come to life.* "You know, Gale said this...Ridiculous thing that uh..." I stuttered, biting my lip. "He claimed that you were a TimeShifter."
*I was surprised, but I totally expected that, just not here, "Did he now...?"
"Yea...It's ridiculous I know." my voice caught and I turned to look at Felix for a moment. "You aren't, are you?"
"I haven't eaten you yet, have I?"I asked in a way that didn't give anything away.
"Some TimeShifters know how to keep themselves from eating their...Friends." I said almost carefully and curiously.
"That's true... but how many Time Shifters have you seen do that?"I asked, flashing a grin.
*I smiled, a bit nervously.* "Hm..." I muttered, silent for a moment. "What was with the way you were looking at that cheeseburger though? Any TimeFighter I know wouldn't hesitate to eat it."
"They didn't look...appetizing?" I replied, shrugging.
*I squinted in a WTF? way and sighed* "I've been mulling this over, Felix. Just please, tell me the truth." I pleaded. I suddenly REALLY wanted to know as if it was the most important thing in the world.
*My face slowly went into a straight line. I didn't know what to do. Worst case scenario, I ended up hurting her in some way. Was it worth it? Was I ready to tell this girl I had met 5 hours ago and barley even know, plus, is somehow an important part in this whole plan. I guess I was. "It would be pretty lame right now if I wasn't,"
*My breath caught. I had expected that answer but it was still astounding. I felt a rush of guilt for screaming at Gale and a flash of WTF-why-didn't-you-listen-and-pay-attention and that sort of stuff but there was no hatred. I still felt...I don't know the same...Friendliness? Affection? Towards Felix. I didn't know how to say this and when I opened my mouth to say something, nothing came.*
"You can run away now, if you want to. You can go and tell Gale that he was right. You can attack me? Just bringing out suggestions,"I laughed, smiling.
*I grinned, glad that that wasn't as dramatic as some would think.* "Na, I'd rather just stay here." I said with a smile.
*I shrugged, "It's your death I suppose."
"Wow that's comforting. Thank you." I muttered.
*I nodded in approval, grinning again. I pushed my hair out of my eyes to watch the moon float up into space, and I smiled, it was comforting. "So, what do you want to know about TimeShifters?"
*I shrugged. What did I want to know about TimeShifters? I usually didn't think about that, I just thought about...well...killing them but now I had one as a friend so...* "How do you become a TimeShifter? I've never understood that." I replied. A sudden thought flashed through my mind. Could I become a TimeShifter? That would eliminate the whole life-threatening issue and the fact I supposed to kill TimeShifters not befriend them. What if this was all part of some plan though?
"Well.... you know the twilight series...right?"I asked.
*I scratched my head a bit awkwardly.* "I've never actually read it but I've heard about it. Why?" I replied.
*It was my turn to look awkward,"Well, they kind of like.. bite you? Then you go through this process of sleeping, and it hurts a little, and you wake up and all you can eat/drink is blood. It's simple. But we can transform into Time Demons, and were not indestructible, and our hearts beat differently. Were just a lot stronger than humans, and we can live forever and ever-- as long as no one killed us." I wasn't really talking to her, it was if I was reminding myself, "some of us eat people, some eat animals. That's why I made the reference of Twilight, cause the vampires are the same thing... except, we don't stay whatever age we are forever---conditionally." I came back into reality, only to flash a smile, wondering if I had scared her.
*It was a bit hard to process but I did eventually.* "Interesting. So it's kinda like being a vampire with a few side effects." I reasoned. "So, you can turn into a TimeDemon? How do you do that?"
"It's really hard to explain-- you just, transform. And we don't look different. I look exactly the same, except maybe my right ear is a inch bigger. If we were to live forever--- and did not have that one condition-- we would transform into this ugly Time Demon, and it would be pretty gruesome..."
*I crinkled my nose as I pictured some of the TimeDemons I've faced. I looked at Felix and just couldn't picture someone like him turning into a TimeDemon.* "Well...That's pleasant!" I said after some awkward silence.
"But--- there is one condition. If you serve your purpose as a TimeShifter, and would like to-- they have this acid stuff.. it basically turns you into a vampire totally." It sounded pretty funny, and complicated.
"Hm..." I muttered, mulling this over. I couldn't tell but it seemed like Felix almost wanted me to become a TimeShfiter but at the same time, he didn't. I studied the oh-so interesting ground, thinking.
"That's basically it..."I replied, staring at the stars that were bursting out.
"I've always loved stars, the nighttime." I said, staring up at the sky. "It's nice and clear tonight, too."
*I nodded in agreement, "I agree, It's quite beautiful."
*I looked up even higher to see the best stars through the treetops. I felt my head hit Felix's shoulder. He didn't seem to care so I just kept on looking at the stars.*
*I stood there, merely staring at the stars when it hit me. Onyx would find out. He'd try to transform her, if I don't do it myself, and then she'll be used for a weapon! I can't let them know... I can't let her get transformed... My face let out in a scowl.* (Should we rp in 3rd character?)
(No I like 1st person better.) "Are you okay?" I asked, sensing something was wrong.
"Yep, just thinking,"I replied as my scowl vanished.
"Okay..." I said a little uncertainly. I sighed, starting to just kinda relax which I didn't get to do that often.
"So.... think Gale's ready to apologize?"I asked her suddenly, turning to look at her.
"Apologize for what?" I asked. "If anything, I should apologize to him for yelling at him like I did."
"But he started yelling at you, and it was uncalled for, you did save him, he would have surely bled to death from the gash in his head!"
"That is true but..." I trailed off. I suddenly remembered how I had somehow caught Gale's scent on Onyx. Could Onyx have done that to Gale? Why would he? I wanted to ask Felix but I wasn't sure what his reaction would be or if I wanted to know the answer.
"Yes... Onyx did that..." I murmured, almost silently. I shouldn't have told her all this stuff, it shouldn't have happened at all. God.
"Wh-Why?" I stuttered, starting to fidget a bit with my fingers like I did when I get nervous.
"It's all part of the game. Just another pawn set in place," I recalled, staring absentmindedly at the stars.
"So, what you're saying is brutally hurting someone like that is a 'pawn' in some big game?" I asked. My voice wasn't raising or anything just the tension in it was rising.
"No, I was only recalling what Onyx had said, that's all,"I replied.
"Onyx is a lunatic." I muttered.
"He's doing what he can to be king,"I replied back. I'd hate to admit that I knew where Onyx was coming from.
"King of what? King of the nut house?" I asked, almost completely serious.
"Don't you understand what were fighting, and slaughtering about?" I asked, almost a little angry.
"Honestly, not really." I said a bit reluctantly.
"People higher than Onyx, who have been Time Demons for centuries were here hundreds of years ago when our ancestors fought in the Standstill. They've developed so much and now your a Time shifter that transforms into a Time demon. They want revenge, the only reason they are doing this is for power and to rule the world, you and your time fighting friends are supposed to be saving the world from being under the ruling of these people." I said, angrily, not generally knowing what 'side' I was on now.
"Oh. I've never actually heard the whole backing to it I was always told 'It's to save the world, Clarissa!' Nothing specific." I muttered.
"Well, I'm glad you know now.."I replied, looking at the ground.
"This is one messed up world." I sighed, looking sullenly up at the sky.
"It's what happens..."I agreed, "It's been an... interesting day."
*I nodded. Even through my jacket as well as Felix's, I still felt chilled. A sort of internal chill. I knew this wasn't an awesome situation but I didn't see why I felt like this.*
"Would you like to go home?"I asked, blinking.
*I blinked, thinking for a moment.* "I don't know. I don't feel like getting flk from Gale but I have to go home eventually." I sighed.
"We don't have to rush, but I'm head that way anyway," I pressed, she looked tired.
*I smiled wearily and sighed.* "Well, might as well then." I said, starting to stand up.
*I stood waiting for her to stand up. See, now that she knew, what would happen if she told Gale? He'd tell Jocelyn, they'd both blab, and someone would kill me, Onyx, and my friends. It wouldn't be good, and there are kind hearted Time Shifters out there.*
*I straightened up, stretching and yawning. I hadn't realized what a long day it had been till not. I started to walk alongside Felix, thinking.* "Should I tell Gale? I mean, he's been my freind for almost my whole life and all but I don't want to endanger your life at all." I reasoned.
"If they find out I told you...."I replied, staring straight towards were I was walking. (Heh. She doesn't know that he is in a high position!)
"Wh-What could happen?" I asked nervously.
"I've..." done, was what I was going to say, "...seen horrible things for those who tell humans. But.. Were safe..."I hope! I thought, not knowing if my position counted as a plus in this situation.
"You don't sound too sure." I said uncertainly. "Look I can go...like... ump off a cliff or something. I don't want to send you to some torture house or something."
* My eyes went wide, "Nonono! That's not how it works... It's a little more complicated in our case..." I answered, smirking at the 'torture house' comment.*
"God. Who knew killing people could get so complicated." I sighed, scratching my head.
"Gets more complicated every day I suppose.."I shrugged, as I kept walking, my eyes gazing at the stars, then the park.*
*I saw my house just down the road. I saw the glow of a light in Gale's bedroom window which met I was probably screwed. I really didn't feel like getting chewed out but if not now, than tomorrow morning. I simply sighed, also looking up at the stars.*
*I eyed the light that was still on in the house and smiled, "Fatherly... nice." I commented.
*I laughed a little at that.* "I guess it can be annoying sometimes but without Gale,my life would probably be pretty disorganized." I sighed.
"I guess..."I agreed simply as we trudged closer to the house."Good luck anyyway,"
"Thanks." I sighed wearily, starting to walk towards the patio that led to the door.
*I stood there, watching her go. I knew soon, we'd both be getting a smack down. I turned to start trudging towards base, I couldn't wait until Onyx killed me*
*I put my hand on the doorknob and unlocked it. I looked back and smiled as I swept into the house and trudged up the stairs. I almost made it to my room til Gale called a sarcastic hi.*
"HELLO!" I shouted, jumping out from behind a tree right in front of Felix.
*I wasn't surprised, or scared, or shocked, as I simply stood there, " Sup;?"
"Eh nothing really. I was just waiting behind a tree for 10 minutes listening to your and Clara's rather sad conversation." I muttered, sounding bored.
"Eavesdropping, stooped to another low, I'm proud!" I shot back sarcastically. (WHAT DID YOU MAKE?!)
"Dude, again, at least I'm not dating a TimeFighter." I said calmly. "Anyway, YOU'RE GONNA GET US ALL KILLED!!!!" (Brownie and ice cream!)
"You were the one that insisted that I went on this mission! How was I s upposed to know I'd like the girl,"I had d ecided to admit out loud. "So what do you assume I do now, Mr. Smartguy?"
(Didn't think of offering/making me any?)
"Kill her! She offered to do it herself already." I said in a matter-of-fact tone. (Not really. I can....I GUESS.)
"You can't expect me to go, 'Go jump off a cliff,' can you?"I growled in return. (Ok, getting up.)
"It's her life for a whole facility of TimeShifters' lives. Your choice." I pointed out. "What would you rather have rest on your shoulders?"
"She doesn't know I'm freaking general of all the TimeShifter's! Onyx..."I trailed, shaking my head.
"It doesn't matter. Either way, we're all gonna get killed." I snapped. "She's going to tell that Gale dude about it, thinking she can trust him and he's going to go blathering it! We need to kill her."
"Onyx, why can't we not kill someone? Just find a way to get them to shut-up! I already told her that she couldn't tell Gale. If she does, we'll figure it out, but if she doesn't she's the only one that knows, ok?" I argued, my hair falling down onto my face.
*I snapped, suddenly realizing a much easier plan (well, in my mind)* "Fine. We don't HAVE to kill her." I reasoned dramatically. "What if you turn her into one of us? POOF! The issue's gone."
*My face turned cold, "You wouldn't dare!"I growled, clenching one hand into a fist.
"Watch me." I growled. "If you don't want me to do it, then you have to. Otherwise, she dies."
"Just give her time!"I found myself pleading. I quickly shook it off, "She can keep a secret. If something happens, then we'll act."
*I glared coldly, reasoning.* "Fine. She has a few days to prove herself. If not, you know what happens." I snapped.
"Whatever, Onyx. Just another pawn in the game,"I growled, turning around to stalk off towards the house. We didn't really sleep so I had nothing better to do than to easedrop on Clara and Gale's conversation.*
"So, I see you were with Felix that whole time." I muttered, my tone revealing nothing.
"Yeah, so?" I growled, leaning against the wall. I was tired and just plain whipped.
"I told you 'so!'" I snapped angrily. "He's. A. Time. SHIFTER!"
*I opened my mouth to say something than quickly snapped it shut. What was supposed to say to that? I wanted so badly to tell Gale the truth but... couldn't. I settled on staring at the floor for now.*
"Well?" I stood up and walked over, arms crossed. I had known Clara for awhile and was good at reading her emotions. "Hi, isn't he. I. KNEW. IT."
"What!? No! No Felix isn't a TimeShifte!" I pleaded hastily. Gale knew me too well and I knew no charades could get past him. Oh dear god this wasn't going to go over well...
"I can't believe this." I walked towards the door of the bedroom, swinging my coat on and heading towards the front door.
"No! Gale! Wait! Where are you going!?" I called after him, chasing him to the outside of the house feebly but being forced to give up.
*I walked off to go tell one of the town. They would know what to do. Those TimeShifters would be eliminated and this whole thing would finally be over.*
*I looked over and saw Felix standing right under the bedroom window. I couldn't meet his gaze. I had failed at this point. I turned and decided to run. Just run away. It's the only option I could see right now.*
*I couldn't let this happen. I started into a tree, and started tree hopping. I had to stop Gale. I quickly, and easily, caught up with him, and tumbled out of the tree so I would be infront of him in order for him to stop, and hopefully listen.*
*I glared coldly at Felix, all my anger swelling.* "Oh great, you." I growled.
*I kept my distance between the human and snarled, "Do you care about Clara?:I asked, my eyes narrowing.
"Of course I do. That's why she shouldn't being going out with a TimeShifter . You guys are dangerous and need to be eliminated. What happens when you kill her?! I'm going to get blamed because I did nothing. I don't want Clara hurt." I snapped.
"She's going to get killed if you tell the officials or whatever, do you want that? To see her body, all white going away in a casket to be buried? Onyx is going to kill her! You saw just how easily he injured you!"I snarled, putting one foot in, starting to go towards Gale.
"How is she going to get killed if I tell the officials!? They will make sure you're eliminated and there won't be anymore unnecessary killing." I snarled. "Onyx is a madman! Every TimeShifter and TimeDemon I've encountered has been crazy in some sense. What makes you think you're different?"
"Onyx is not just a madman, he's king of all TimeShifters! He can get a mob of angry swarms of demons and shifters to eat you alive. If the secret gets out about who we are he is going to kill her, then you, and then whoever else you've ever known. I didn't know when I took this mission I'd meet Clara!"I seethed.
"What do you want me to do then!? Clara's not going to be able to hold this in forever. She cracks at a certain point of pressure." I said, trying to calm down a bit.
"She doesn't seem like the type to do that..."I muttered darkly.
"We all have our cracking points. I've known Clara for years. You, a day is it? Yeah." I pointed out.
"Don't think I haven't noticed that?"I practically hissed. This kid was never going to give up!
"You act like you haven't!" I growled back. "It's out of my hands even if you do convince me. Again, eventually, Clara's gonna crack."
"Everyone eventually cracks, it's a part of life! Just know if you live to see her being killed, it's all your fault." I couldn't even look at this guy anymore. I shook my head and started walking the other way, "..besides, you'd shouldn't be talking to the TimeShifter's general like that." and a dark grin went across my face as I walked down the dark road.
"GENERAL!?" I yelled in pure awe. I really didn't understand how it was my fault at this point but I decided it was time to just go home for the night.
*I decided to go to a TimeShifter base, and sleep for a bit. Tomorrow would be a long day...*
*I sat huddled up in a tree deep inside the park, studying the deep grooves in the bark and the bugs that crawled up and down the branches. This wasn't too bad.*
*I don't have anything else to post&
"That went swimmingly, don't ya think?" I said from the entrance of the base as Felix drew near.
"Shut-up!"I yelled, reaching the first room and slamming the door shut.
"Hm...Someone's a bit angry." I muttered, laughing a little bit. "What's wrong 'Lil 'Lix?"
*I didn't answer as I searched the room for my ipod.*
"You remember our earlier discussion, right?!" I called stubbornly through the door. "The one about that one TimeFighter getting killed or changed or somethin'!"
*I didn't answer or open the door, but I nodded, smirking at myself.*
"Well, that was strike one. If she peeps again, I'm skipping number two. I never liked that number. Two. Ugh. It's disgusts me. You hear what I'm sayin'!" I babbled. I may have sounded crazy but I was getting a rather important point across.
*I opened the door and chucked a book out, which happened to hit Onyx, before I closed the door again.*
"Hey! Thanks for the book!" I cackled, opening the book (which was upside down) and starting to read obnoxiously out loud.
*I went to my bed and turned my ipod on full blast before I put a pillow over my head, trying to drown out the horrible cackiling.*
"I know you can hear me, 'Lix!" I yelled. "I'm just sayin', you better watch out cause that Clara girl is digging herself a hole that she's not gonna be able to get out of." With that, I decided the torture was done for now and wandered off.
*The rest of the night the same words echoed in my head, 'digging herself a hole she's not gonna be able to get out of.'*
*Forgetting I was in a tree, I started to rollover in my sleep and then got that falling feeling that snapped me awake but the fall was actually real. Luckily, I hadn't been up high. I hit the ground and my breath disappeared. I wasn't completely sure where in the park I was so I decided to wander around a bit, maybe try to find my way home.*
*I lay in my bed, staring up at the ceiling, unable to get to sleep. Where was Clara? I considered going out to look for her but honestly, that probably wasn't a smart move.*
*I stirred in my bed, it was the middle of the night, what the hell could be happening?*
*My side hurt from landing on it like that and I pulled my jacket closer around me. I realized I still had Felix's jacket and sighed. What crap had I caused? It had been stupid to run away. Where was I going anyway? I saw an unfamiliar building up ahead and stopped in my tracks. I should probably backtrack...*
*I couldn't fall asleep, so I decided to go get some fresh air. I knew Onyx was gone, probably sleeping, and opened my door carefully, going to head outside.*
*I heard a door creak open and started stepping back. Should I run or confront? Maybe it wasn't even a threat but...I decided to go wait up in a nearby tree to wait.*
*I punched in the bar code and the door to the outside world slid open, as I walked out, the light blaring into the grass. I closed the door and walked a couple feet only to stare at the stars.*
*I blinked as light shone into the darkness of the night. I squinted and waited for my eyes to adjust. Was that...Felix? I really couldn't tell since all I could really see was a silhouette from here.*
*I was at ease for the moment. There was a full moon, lot's of stars. It was calming. I tried not to think about anything that happened today and just have a blank mind.*
*I decided to leave it be at the moment. I turned my head to look behind me and SUDDENLY. SQUIRREL. There was a squirrel right there in my face.* "AH!" I yelped, falling off the branch. I grabbed one as I was starting to fall and hung there for a bit awkwardly.
*I turned to stare at--- Clara. Not surprising. I stood there, watching her, debating what I was going to do. I finally walked over there, "Sup?"
"Uh..." I looked up at the tree to see if that creepy squirrel was still there. He wasn't so I just looked like a lunatic. "I think a squirrel is out to kill me..."
"That was it..."I replied, shaking my head. My eyes glowed in the dark night as I looked around.
"What?" I asked, not understanding. I let go of the branch, landing a little heavily on the ground. There was a spark of pain in my side but I only winced.
*I held my hand down and offered to help her up, not saying anything else.*
*I accepted the help, sighing once I had stood up.* "God I'm sorry about earlier. I've known Gale for so long...It's like he can read my mind and I think he's just been in a spazzy mood lately." I said hastily.
I was going to say, 'It cost you, big time.' but I didn't. I decided not to say anything.
*I bit my lip, starting a fidget again. I knew Onyx was out to kill me because at this point, I was a HUGE threat. I looked down at my shoes nervously.*
"I would invite you inside, but that's not a good idea..."
*I shrugged, sighing as I continued staring at my feet. Maybe if I hadn't gotten so jumpy when I talked to Gale, none of this would have happened. I put a bunch of lives on the line. And for what? Just to be with Felix? Hm...*
"How did talking with Gale go?" I sighed, knowing it probably would be an interesting story.
"He didn't understand that you'd get killed, called me some stuff, talked about extinction, same ol' stuff."I replied back, recounting the event in my head.
"Ah. Well, that sounds like fun." I muttered. I hadn't completely known how or in what situation I would be killed. I didn't want to know anyway.
"Heh. It's funny..."I trailed, regretting I was going to say already.
*I raised an eyebrow* "What?" I asked.
*I shook my head, "Nothing,"I replied, staring at the stars again.
"Okay then..." I muttered, also looking up. The sky was starting to pale ever so slightly with the first signs of dawn.
"You'd better be going home soon...."I commented, as the sky started turning paler.
"I guess so. Sorry again about earlier." I muttered, stretching my arms out in front of me.
"It's alright..." I guess.... I turned towards Clara, "You should leave fast, if the Shifters spot you they'll try to kill you.." my premission or not.
*I nodded.* "Well, see you later." I said simply, starting to wander off. Each step hurt my side but I stubbornly ignored it. I'd just take an advil when I got home.
*I stared after her for a moment, and then turned around, the paler light getting lighter and lighter as I wpunched in the code and walked into the base.*
"Are you okay?" I asked Clara as she walked into the living room. I could tell she was wincing whenever she took a step.
"I'm fine." I replied. "I fell out a tree in the park and hurt my side. I just need some advil."
*I was sitting in the kitchen eating a toaster strudel when I spotted Clara walking in. Great.*
"Are you sure? I don't think that'll solve it." I muttered uncertainly.
*I walked into the base and started towards the cafeteria to get some food.*
"I'm fine." I repeated stiffly. I walked off to head towards my room to change and maybe get some sleep.
"Wassup?" I said wearily, turning to Jocelyn.
*I narrowed my eyes, gesturing to the toaster strudel, but didn't say anything else.*
"Ah." I sighed. "Something wrong?"
*I lifted part of my shirt to look atmy side. It was bruising and starting to hurt a bit more which worried me. I touched it lightly and the pain flared. I bit back a yelp and sighed. I hoped I hadn't broken anything...I would have probably noticed it by now.*
*I just glared at him again, finishing my toaster strudel and going to put it into the garbage.* "Don't ruin it for her Gale!"I growled before walking out of the house.
"Wha--?" I called after Jocelyn.
*I walked into the cafeteria and got a plate, going towards the line.*
*I changed quickly into my pajamas, settling down to get a little sleep. I rolled over onto my other side. I drifted into a light sleep. I rolled over onto my other side and cried out inadvertently. I don't think a bruise could cause that much pain. I was probably screwed.*
"Helloooo." I greeted Felix as he walked by,grabbing food.
"Sup?"I asked, grabbing food also.
*I shrugged* "Nothing really. Just hagin." I said, stretching. "I'm going to warn you, you have to stay away from that girl or you're gonna get us all killed. Just so you know."
"I've been reminded..."I growled in return.
"You don't act like it." I hissed back.
"Just give me time Onyx, I'll figure something out, ok?"
"I'm giving you today and today only. We can't keep this going forever." I snarled, starting to stride away.
"So your telling me I either have to kill her, or transform her today or else you'll do one or the other?"I snarled, whipping around.
"I said you have to decide today or figure out some sort of plan which gonna be one of those two options." I explained. "If you don't make the decision, I will."
"Onyx--"My face had a little pain in it. "Can I ask her?"I suddenly realized, I was turning soft. Crap.
*I lifted an eyebrow than glared* "If you think that's what's best and your plan. At this point, you and her are the ones that are going to suffer most in this whole situation."
"You know what-- just do whatever you like, I'm not going to do anything,"My face seethed and scowled. I couldn't let this girl get in the way of our plans. I had just met her anyway. "I don't care."
*I grinned evilly.* "Awesome." I hissed. With that I rushed outside to finish this mission once and for all.
*I winced as I got up and took some more advil. I sat down on my bed, looking down at my pale hands, sorta zoning out.*
*I sat there, staring at the floor for a moment, trying to convince myself that it was the best thing to do.*
*I wandered up to the house, looking all ordinary. I could tell Gale was home downstairs. Clara must have been upstairs. I climbed up the fire escape and popped my head through the open the window.* "HI!" I greeted loudly but not loud enough to hear downstairs.
"AH!" I yelped, jumping up and hitting the door with my back. "What do you want!?"
*I started to drink the blood food and I looked around, no one here in particular.*
"Aw, look at the poor lonely boy." I pouted, coming over to the table and sitting across from Felix. "What'ca doing? Shouldn't you be going out and helping Onyx turn that chick...um...Clara?" I asked curiously.
"Well, Felix doesn't care about you anymore so I'm here to carry out the original mission; turning you into a TimeShifter." I explained cheerfully.
"Go away, no one loves you."
"Aw, that's so sweet!" I said in a little squeally girl voice. "But seriously, why aren't you out carrying out the mission?"
"What!? Original mission...?" I broke off. Realizing what had happened. Felix was supposed to turn me into a TimeShfiter after all...Nothing else.
"Honestly, I just don't feel like it,"It was half the truth.
"Righttttt." I said, flipping my hair dramatically. "That's not the whole story!"
"Yeah. There was never supposed to be any 'romance', just blood and stuff." I said simply as if this was a normal conversation. I walked into the room, going right up to Clara. "Don't struggle. That just makes things harder."
"What kind of story do you want then? It won't be fun cause Onyx is killing her fully anyway!"I growled, this girl was never gonna give up.
"I thought the mission was just to turn her into to ONE OF US." I said, saying the last part all dramatically.
*I scrambled back, my back thudding against the door. Onyx was probably one of the craziest and scariest people I've ever seen and I think he was abou to kill me.*
"But he made it seem like he was going to kill her!"I jumped up, knocking my tray to the floor.
"Hell no! Onyx may be crazy but he doesn't go running around killing people." I replied. "I think he's just going to turn her into a SHifter."
"You're cornered, why even bother?" I asked, stepping even closer. "It's just annoying at this point. So STOP. It's makes life harder for everybody."
*Crap, crap, crap. I didn't say anything as I raced out, reaching the woods in a matter of seconds.*
"Maybe that's my objective." I snapped back, trying to swerve away but Onyx grabbed me with a steel grip that wouldn't loosen. "You're breath stinks." I muttered.
"That's one of the sacrifices you have to make when you eat people." I said with a shrug.
*I raced through the woods, fallowing the scents of Onyx, I was getting nearer and nearer.*
"Ick. Ever heard of a toothbrush." I muttered as Onyx bared his teeth. I crinkled my nose in disgust.
"Say bye bye to the mortal life!" I said cheerfully.
*I was so close, yet so far away as I raced through the streets. Onyx would corner her in her own house, I knew it. It was coming into view, but I couldn't get my legs to go faster.*
*I braced myself as Onyx bent to bite me. This scene sounds so weird to describe. I was frozen with fear, no more struggling. I had excepted the fact that I'm was going to become a TImeShifter; what I had fought my whole life and was taught to hate.*
*I reached the house, and I was so close, I wondered how Gale couldn't have heard this, and I crashed through the window., too late, "Noo!"I screamed.
*I bit Clara's neck as Felix crashed in. I hadn't realized I had been so hungry tl now. Of course, I had to be careful so I wouldn't kill her. I got the blood I need and straightened to face Felix, wiping my bloody moth. Clara lay limp on the floor.* "There. Mission complete." I said simply. "She'll be walking around the base in no time."
*I glared angrily, my anger boiling up, "What the hell man? I thought you were gonna kill her, not make her suffer as one of us!"I screeched, attacking him.
*I easily shoved Felix into a wall, getting up and brushing my clothes off.* "Dude, chilax. It's not THAT bad being a TimeShifter. Especially when I'm the leader!" I replied, winking.
*It hurt more than I expected. Of course, I wasn't really expecting Onyx to break into my house adn turn me into a TimeShifter in the first place. Anyway, I could feel pain coursing through my body, almost like a sort of burning. It flared most at the bite. My head was a sea of differnt shades of black and I felt like some sort of a change or a metamorphsis type thing going on inside me. I heard myself moan uncontroablly and the fuzzed out sound of voices nearby. That's all I could hear and all I saw were rainbowy stars dancing on the back of my eyelids.*
*I heard a thump and yelling upstairs. I sprinted to the Clara's bedroom door. I yanked it open to see the two Shifters shouting at each other and Clara lying limp on the floor, blood staining the collar of her shirt* "WHAT DID YOU DO!?!?" I yelled.
"HE TRANSFORMED HER!"I screamed, getting up from the wall and putting my hand on Onyx's neck, pushing him up against the back wall. "A******!"
"I don't understand why you want her dead so bad!" I said, just as cocky as before, totally calm. "This is much better after the first few weeks."
"You....you...You transformed her...?" I stuttered. "YOU TRANSFORMED CLARA!?!?!"
"I--...I-.." I was going to say, 'I'm done working for you,' but if I did that Clara would have no protection if I wasn't General. She didn't know what I was either, which made it far more worse. I clutched Onyx's neck and glared, "She's gonna hate me..."I mutterd.
"That's YOUR fault!" I managed to choke out. Though I was being choked, I still looked weirdly calm. "I gave you a choice."
